Telecom Egypt awards Alcatel-Lucent an integrated management of change contract

CAIRO: Telecom Egypt awarded Alcatel-Lucent a contract for the assessment, reengineering, and modernization of its operations and maintenance processes in order to improve its customer satisfaction, its commitment on SLAs, and make optimal use of the existing resources, according to a press statement.
Alcatel-Lucent will assist Telecom Egypt enhance the overall efficiency of its operations & maintenance organization and improve customer satisfaction through the implementation of customized processes with measurable results that will enable it to more effectively deploy, manage changes on the existing services and add smoothly new complex services to its network. The contract also includes Alcatel-Lucent s expertise in OSS applications design and integration.
Telecom Egypt s CEO Akil Bashisr sees strategic advantages in the alliance with Alcatel-Lucent. New telecommunications technologies today support the launch of a wide range of added value services designed to meet our customers expectations. To take full advantage of this potential, we have decided to more focus on the development of customer-specific services and therefore will partner with Alcatel-Lucent as a strategic network partner to help us in operating and managing those services efficiently.
The project will start by assessing the existing tools and processes, then the definition of new processes and relating them to tangible KPIs. ALU will train Telecom Egypt staff on the new processes and working methods then will lead its implementation in the field and will follow up its impact on the performance.
"This agreement is the first of its kind in the Middle East. The new structure will give Telecom Egypt management and employees the benefit of Alcatel-Lucent outsourced operations and maintenance experience with other similar operators worldwide as well as the global training opportunities and increased possibilities for career development, said Vincenzo Nesci, president of Alcatel-Lucent s business in the Middle East. "This is a significant milestone for the telecommunications industry in the Middle East. With more than 20 years of multi-vendor, multi-technology experience, Alcatel-Lucent manages more than 60 customer networks with more than 90 million subscribers around the world and maintains more than 1,600 products from more than 290 vendors.
