Egypt's Foreign Affairs Minister, Sameh Shoukry, headed to Amman, the capital of Jordan, on Tuesday to meet with Abdullah II, King of Jordan, for bilateral talks and to present him with a message from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, according to the ministry's spokesperson, Ahmed Abou Zaid.
The Jordanian prime minister, as well as the country's foreign minister will attend the meeting. There is no information yet about the content of the Egyptian president's message; however, it will include the bilateral relations between Egypt and Jordan.
The meeting will include discussions about the relationship between the two countries and ways to develop cooperation and coordination that will serve the interests of both of them, Abou Zaid noted.
Egyptian-Jordanian relations represent the main fulcrum in the Arab region, Abou Zaid said.
He also added that the meeting will include consultations on different regional issues of common concern and on ways to deal with crises in the Arab region, such as the situations in Syria, Libya, Yemen, and Iraq, as well as addressing updates on the Palestinian issues.
In addition to that, officials will review updates on the ongoing war on terrorism.
The aforementioned discussion is part of the preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit, hosted by Jordan in March.
A few days ago, Shoukry arrived to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and met with the country's minister of foreign affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, to discuss bilateral relations, and also met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE's armed forces. Shoukry submitted to Sheikh Mohammed Al Nahyan a message from Al-Sisi, which focused on praising the UAE's efforts for Egypt.
