Mohamed Shawky has completed his move to Turkish side Kayserispor from Middlesbrough on Monday after both clubs reached an agreement, the midfielder s agent said. Shawky has already put pen to paper and he s about to start an adventure in the Turkish Super Lig, Nader Shawki, who s now in Turkey, told FilGoal.com over the phone. The contract s length is two and a half years. The agent revealed that Kayserispor paid Boro no money to acquire Shawky s services, as the English side wanted to get red rid of the Egyptian international. Shawky represented an unnecessary financial burden at Middlesbrough, Shawki said. They agreed to offload him for free so as they don t pay his wages for the rest of the season. The 28-year-old joined Boro in the summer of 2007 from Egyptian champions Ahly but couldn t established himself as a key player at the Riverside. Gordon Strachan replaced Gareth Southgate as the team s manager last October but his arrival did not give Shawky a new lease of life. Shawky, who was left out of Egypt s squad for the African Cup of Nations due to lack of regular first-team football with Middlesbrough, did not play any games this season. He only made the bench in last week s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City. Shawky has now joined compatriots Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa and Ayman Abdul-Aziz, who play for Eskisehirspor and Diyarbakirspor respectively, in the Turkish Super Lig.
