210 ships pass through the Suez Canal, carrying 12.8m tonnes in 5 days

Suez Canal traffic data revealed that 210 ships transited the canal, with a total load of 12.8m tonnes, from 19 to 23 June.
An average of 42 ships transited the canal per day during that period, with an average load of 2.56m tonnes per day. The average load per ship was about 61,000 tonnes.
Compared to July 2015, before the inauguration of the new Suez Canal, the average daily number of transiting vessels totaled 47 vessels, with an average load of 2.758m tonnes per day.
The major container ships of Maren Maersk passed through the canal carrying 200,360 tonnes.
The number of vessels that passed through the new canal coming from the west through the northern entrance reached 105, with a daily average of 21 vessels, and a total load of 6.5m tonnes, recording a daily average of 1.3m tonnes.
Meanwhile, 105 ships transited the canal coming from the south, with a daily average of 21 vessels, and a total load of 6.3m tonnes, recording a daily average of 1.26m tonnes.
Cargo load is the main measure of shipping traffic in the Suez Canal.
