NTRA tests mobile quality in Greater Cairo with 30,800 calls
Etisalat is the worst in mobile internet in January 2016 report
Published in Daily News Egypt on 26 - 03 - 2016

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) released the January report addressing the quality of mobile voice calls of the three mobile operators, Vodafone, Orange, and Etisalat, noting that the quality remained stable compared to December 2015.
The NTRA conducted a test through making 30,800 calls in Greater Cairo (Cairo, Giza, and Qaliubiya), 164 of which were blocked and 21 of which were cut off.
The NTRA depends on six major working teams of engineers and technicians to measure the quality of mobile services and examines the telecommunication operators' services on highways and in residential areas, using specialised devices and equipment.
Orange achieved the best performance in the voice calls test in Cairo; 10,600 calls were examined, only five of which were cut off. Etisalat came in second place, where 10,200 calls were examined and only eight were cut off.
Vodafone came in third place, where NTRA examined 10,000 calls, eight of which were cut off.
In terms of the number of blocked calls, however, Vodafone came in first place with 42 calls being blocked out of the 10,000 calls examined. Vodafone was followed by Orange with 61 blocked calls out of 10,600 total examined calls, and in third place came Etisalat with 61 blocked calls out of 10,200 calls examined.
None of the three companies exceeded the maximum level of cut off or blocked calls determined by NTRA, which is 2% of the total examined calls.
In order to test mobile internet quality, NTRA conducted 11,700 connection attempts through the three mobile networks. Orange came in first place in Greater Cairo, where 4,400 connection attempts were conducted, none of which failed.
Vodafone came in second place, with six failed connections out of the 3,700 calls made, while Etisalat followed in third place, with eight failed connections out of 3,600.
