Free Egyptians Party to submit 3 health sector bills to parliament after forming Standing Committees
Published in Daily News Egypt on 29 - 02 - 2016

The Free Egyptians Party intends to submit three bills related to the health sector to the House of Representatives following the issuance of the parliament's statute and formation of the standing special committees.
A member of the parliament's temporary health committee Ayman Abu El-Ela said the parliamentary bloc of Free Egyptians will submit three bills related to the Supreme Council of Health, the Egyptian Organisation for Drug Control, and the national authority for health care and medical facilities.
He told Daily News Egypt the health sector is one of the most important fields of interest for the party during the current period in light of the expected health insurance bill submission to the parliament by the government.
Minister of Health Ahmed Emad Eddin told Daily News Egypt that the drafting process of the new comprehensive health insurance law will be completed soon.
Parliamentary sources, who requested to remain anonymous, revealed there is disagreement between the ministries of health and finance on the financial allocations of the new bill. Implementing the law's first phase requires an allocation of EGP 90bn, which the Ministry of Finance cannot currently supply; it only provided EGP 50bn. "This problem may lead to increasing the individual subscription, which is rejected by the Doctors' Syndicate," the source said.
Abu El-Ela said the new three bills aim to raise the quality of health services provided to citizens by developing the state-owned hospitals and provide required medicines. In regards to the dispute between the Doctors Syndicate and policemen, he said "the law must be equally applicable for everyone".
Members of the House of Representatives have not yet contacted with Doctors Syndicate to resolve the crisis.
