Internet users increase to 33.7 million in October 2015
A 1.5% decline in the number of mobile users was observed by the Ministry of Communications

A report published Monday by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology revealed a 1.5% decline in the number of mobile phone users during October 2015, compared to the corresponding period in 2014.
There were 93.1 million mobile users by the end of October, compared to 94.5 million users during 2014. The ratio of mobile phone users against the population rate declined from 110% in October 2014 to 106% during the same period in 2015.
The report showed that the number of Internet users in increased to 33.7 million October 2015, from 27.5 million users during the corresponding period of 2014. Internet access via mobile phones continued to be the dominant method for Internet users, recording 26.09 million users in October 2015, marking a 26.9% year-on-year growth.
A total of 3.92 million users accessed the Internet using USB devices, marking a slight decline by the end of October 2015, compared to 3.96 million during the corresponding period in 2014. Internet users via ADSL increased by 22% in October 2015 to 3.7 million users, from 3.02 million users in October 2014.
About 46% of ADSL Internet users were recorded in Greater Cairo. After Greater Cairo was the Delta region, with 26% of the users, while Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh acquired only 12% of the total users combined. Upper Egypt took 10%, and Sinai and the Red Sea region came in last place with just 6%.
