Djokovic and Williams: Kings of tennis in 2015

Serbian Novak Djokovic ended the season in the top ranks for tennis players in 2015, repeating his achievements during ATP world tour of 2014. Djokovic achieved more than one championship this year, adding several new records to his already admirable profile.
He won the Australian Open championship for the fifth time to become the player with the record for winning it the most times. He also won at Wimbledon for the third time, second title of the US Open, and gained his 10th international title in the Grand Slam tournaments.
Djokovic participated in 17 Championships altogether in 2015, in which he won 11 titles and reached the finals 15 times. The world champion lost only four finals this year; the first final at the Dubai Tennis Championships against his Swiss rival Roger Federer, and lost the French Open championship final against his Swiss rival Stan Wawrinka.
The third final he lost was at the Rogers Cup against the British Andy Murray. He also lost the final against Federer at the Western & Southern Open in the US, leading the latter to reap the title.
This season was not difficult for Djokovic since there was no real competition for the title, which he secured with 16,585 score points, 7,640 points ahead of the British Andy Murray who is in second place. Swiss player Roger Federer came in third place with 8,265 points.
2013 world champion, Spanish player Rafael Nadal, was away from the the competition, making it easier for Djokovic. Nadal ended finished the season in fifth place with 5,230 points and suffered a decline in his level of performance at the beginning of the season due to his injury at the end of the 2014 season.
Women's competitions remain under the control of US player Serena Williams, who topped the international tennis rankings after the 2015 season. She achieved her sixth title in the Australian Open championship. She then won the title of French Open championship for the third time and won the Wimbledon championship for the sixth time. She raised her championships record in the Grand Slam to 21 championships.
Williams ended the season with 9,945 points, 3,885 points ahead of her nearest rival Romanian player Simona Halep, who came in second place in the international rankings of tennis players. Spanish player Garbiñe Muguruza came in third place with 5,200 points.
Williams won five tournaments this year and did not lose any finals she reached. Czech player Karolína Plíšková had reached the most final games this year. She played six finals, of which she won only one title, the Prague Open title, but lost the rest of the finals.
