The Rise-Up Summit's conclusion on Sunday brought to a close two eventful days for Egyptian entrepreneurs, promising fruitful gains for participants.
Investors, startup incubators, startups, and technology corporations gathered in one place to exchange experiences.
Among the announcementsmade during the summit was a partnership between the Ministry of Communication and Google, to launch the mobile app Launchpad, which aims to help entrepreneurs and career starters.
The project will select 2,000 students and young graduates from all over Egypt to participate in a comprehensive programme that offers training and investments to entrepreneurs.
Startup NavGo, a smart phone application that offers indoor navigation for public spaces, also benefited from the summit. The application launched last week, offering navigation information in Mall of Arabia and Galleria shopping centre., It is set to expand to other commercial malls and universities.
Another mobile application that was able to the public was Koshk Comics, which enables creative writers and graphic designers to publish Internet comics on their application.
"We came to the RiseUp Summit to gain exposure and also to seek funding," said Mostafa Saadany, co-founder of Koshk Comics, explaining that they had thought of launching online as investors would not be interested to fund a comic magazine.
The RiseUp Summit was inaugurated on Saturday with representatives from 25 countries around the world.
The event, which features leading figures in the world of innovation and entrepreneurship, attracted large participation from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Morocco and Tunisia.
Participants from Europe included companies and mentors from Sweden, Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK.
Participating companies included Uber, PayFort, Shaghalni, Tennra, Kotobna and Shisan.
The summit included 70 workshops, 30 panel discussions and demonstrations, 14 talks, multiple pitch events, with 140 sessions in total from 200 local, regional and international speakers.
