Individual seats still disputed among political parties
Political parties set expectations for runoff stage of 2015 Parliamentary elections first phase

The Supreme Electoral Committee (SEC) is yet to organise a press conference Wednesday to declare the results for the 2015 Egyptian parliamentary elections, which its first phase took place on Sunday and Monday in 14 governorates, with a runoff stage that will be held next week.
While the majority of seats devoted for the electoral are settled, preliminary unofficial results refer that political parties will again compete over most of the individual seats during the runoff stage.
Ehab Kasseb, spokesperson of the Nation's Future Party in Giza, told Daily News Egypt they already won one individual seat in the first phase of the elections in addition to other five seats for members who are part of For the Love of Egypt electoral list.
Kasseb said the Nation's Future Party, which is mainly composed of youth, will probably compete for more than over 55 seats during the runoff stage next week, especially in Giza, Alexandria, Sohag, and Luxor.
Mohammed El-Meseiry, member of Al-Wafd Party high committee, told Daily News Egypt they lost many seats because its candidates "are not originally Al-Wafd members but new ones who just joined the party".
El-Meseiry said although his liberal party did not win any seats so far. They expect to compete over 35 individual seats during the runoff stage in Alexandria and Beheira in specific.
Mohammed Moussa, a leading figure in the Conference Party, told Daily News Egypt there were many violations during the first phase of the elections, particularly in many of the constituencies in the Red Sea governorate.
He said these violations, against which the party will appeal, hindered many of the party's candidates either to win or even to qualify to the runoff stage.
Moussa said the party guaranteed to compete over the two seats in Alexandria and Beheira governorates during the runoff stage, which might increase to nine in case the appeals are accepted.
