Minister of Housing Mostafa Madbouly announced that the ministry, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), is preparing to launch projects in Daqahleya, Alexandria, Beheira, the Red Sea, and South Sinai, on 6 October.
The project will mark the celebrations of Egypt's early tactical victories which forced a settlement in the 6th of October War against Israel, also known as the Yom Kippur War.
Three road projects are being built in the Daqahleya governorate at a cost of EGP 80m, according to Mohammed Nasser, head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction.
Nasser added that these projects would ease traffic movement, namely by building roads for heavy transport and other cars outside the Gamaliya residential area, with a length of 2.75 km.
Nasser noted that that this road would contribute to reviving internal trade between the governorates of Daqahleya, Damietta, and Sharqeya. In addition, the project is set to enhance the efficiency of some roads, at a cost of EGP 20m.
Nasser said that four new footbridges are being prepared for in Alexandria, to allow pedestrians to cross the Mahmudiyah Canal, the West Nubaria drain channel, and the Matrouh Railway, at a total cost of EGP 10m.
"The road linking the industry zone with Wadi El-Natrun will be opened to serve the industrial area and the people of Wadi El-Natrun and linked to monasteries of Wadi El-Natrun, at a cost of EGP47m," added Nasser. "A power line is being completed to feed the remote communities on a length of 45 km, at cost of EGP 14m".
Further, in the Red Sea governorate, two road projects are being completed at a cost of EGP 16.5m, along with two settlement projects at a cost of EGP 12.5m, according to Nasser.
Further, Madbouly said the ministry is working on completing the development of the Maspero triangle area, and developing three projects, with finances already available. Two projects are in Aswan and the third is in Qaliubiya, with operations starting immediately in cooperation with the Central Agency for Reconstruction and Governorates.
The minister pointed out that the ministry is also working on developing the informal settlements over the next three years.
