Minister of Health Adel Al-Adawi participated in the International Conference of Africa's Fight Against Ebola in Equatorial Guinea Tuesday, according to a statement from the Health Ministry.
Al-Adawi presented his ministry's extensive plans for fighting the disease, keeping Egypt free of it, and aiding African nations in combating it.
The plans included raising the levels of alerts in medical inspection, especially at airports, in order to detect any carriers of the disease. They also comprised the formation of several administrations to monitor and respond to any possible spread of the virus.
Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb is also due to take part in the conference, and address world leaders later Tuesday.
Mehleb proclaimed that Egypt has regained its prestige in light of efforts to root out corruption, as directed by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, as he met the Egyptian community in the capital Malabo.
He made the comments at the new Egyptian embassy, after opening it in the capital. He assured that nepotism and favouritism are being combated, and that officials are given the opportunity to take decisions without fear. He also said that the youth are being placed in positions of authority in the state.
The embassy was opened in Malabo on 30 June, after six months of construction by the Arab Contractors, an Egyptian state-affiliated company.
The prime minister said that Egypt has changed, and that no one can stop the will of the Egyptians. He added that there have been advances in every field, including economically, socially, politically and in terms of security.
He also called for the promotion of moderate Islam among youth, and to combat extremist ideologies. Mehleb also advocated fighting drug use among youth.
