German companies filed a lawsuit against the authority in objection to the application of indicative prices.

A legal conflict has occurred between German automotive companies and the Egyptian Customs Authority, due to the application of the indicative prices on cars at the start of the year.
German companies filed a lawsuit against the authority in objection to the application of indicative prices. In response, the authority filed a lawsuit against one of the German automotive companies.
Last week, a number of German automotive companies in Egypt filed a lawsuit in the State Council against the Ministry of Finance. The companies demanded the cancellation of the decision by the authority to apply indicative prices on cars.
The State Council looked into the lawsuit and it was transferred to its committee of delegates to inspect the case's documents. The judges committee will file a consultancy report and finalise the case's documents in the next few days. A hearing session will be held to set the date for the committee's final decision.
The Egyptian Customs Authority, the ministries of Finance and Industry, and the German automotive companies had a meeting last week to present the papers that prove the accuracy of the latter invoices. The ministries will take a decision within this week.
Automotive companies objected the indicative prices applied, saying that these prices are incorrect and unfair. The companies also added that the decision taken by the authority was based on the selling price in the mother company. Agents, on the other side, buy cars at a different price than individuals.
