2 conscripts injured in Rafah attack
Published in Daily News Egypt on 18 - 02 - 2015

Two conscripts were injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on a security camp and checkpoint in Rafah Tuesday, according to state-run news agency MENA.
The injured conscripts were transferred to Al-Arish Military Hospital.
On Wednesday and Tuesday evening, "Islamic State" affiliates in North Sinai, known as "State of Sinai", posted a series of propaganda photos of several alleged group members while in operations against the armed forces in Sinai.
The photos, which have usually been posted on the group's Twitter account, also show alleged group members interacting with alleged North Sinai residents.
The group claimed on 9 February the decapitation of eight civilians for collaborating with the Egyptian army in operations, mostly during January.
"State of Sinai" have claimed most of the attacks taking place in the restive peninsula, the largest of which was on 29 January. In this attack, the group targeted security facilities and left at least 30 dead, though they claimed having killed "hundreds".
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reiterated the involvement of "foreign elements" in the attack. Recent security measures in North Sinai include the buffer zone in Rafah, aimed at destroying all smuggling tunnels that allow the infiltration of militants and weapons.
On Sunday, the armed forces found the longest infiltrating tunnel found in North Sinai measuring up to 2,500 metres.
