Three men arrested for attack on police officers
Published in Daily News Egypt on 14 - 10 - 2014

Security forces arrested three men allegedly involved in an attack on a police vehicle in Fayoum, which killed police officer Ahmed Abu Al-Nour and wounded his partner in early September.
Security forces alleged the three men are "members of the terrorist cell of the [Muslim] Brotherhood organisation" the Ministry of Interior released in a statement Tuesday. The statement added that they are accused of inciting violence, sabotaging public facilities and institutions of the state, and blocking roads.
While in custody the three men admitted to the shooting and to several attacks on government buildings, which included arson and bombings, the ministry statement said.
The Ministry of Interior said monitoring of web pages and social networking sites, which contained information "against the armed forces and the police", led to the three men being captured.
The statement added that the three men are allegedly part of a larger cell with attacks focused on policemen and government facilities. The allegations also say they act "with a view to damage the national economy" and spread "instability and chaos in the state". They were also involved in the funding of militant attacks and overseeing their implementation.
The Ministry of Interior said security forces were intensifying their search for other members of the cell.
Attacks between security forces and militants have been occurred throughout Egypt since the violent dispersal of the Rabaa Al-Adaweya sit-in in August 2013 following the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi.
