Minimum income applied for government employees this January

Minister of Finance Ahmed Galal has announced that the ministry has finalised all necessary arrangements to implement the minimum income plans for all government employees, to begin this January.
The minister stated that following the implementation of the minimum income plan, the disparity – measured pound-to-pound – between the sixth (or lowest) grade employee and those who hold managerial positions will be reduced from 491% to 311%.
Explaining the impact of minimum income on the employees' salaries, the minister pointed out that the pay of sixth grade employees will jump from EGP 731 to EGP 1,201, a 64% increase. Meanwhile, those in the fifth grade will see a salary increase of 63% to EGP 1,215, compared to the EGP 745 they originally received.
Fourth grade employees will experience a 58% raise with their salary, an increase from EGP 772 to EGP 1,222, while third grade employees' salaries will reach EGP 1308, rising by 44% from EGP 908. Salaries of the first and second grade employees will increase from EGP 1,712 and EGP 1,312 to EGP 2,035 and EGP 1,705, respectively. General managers' salaries will also increase from EGP 2,419 to EGP 2,569, a 9.12% surge.
High-degree employees will receive EGP 2,569, a minimal increase from their original EGP 2419 salary while "excellent", or top-earning, grade employees' salaries will rise by 4.17%, from EGP 3590 to EGP 3740.
