Foreign minister heads to New York
Published in Daily News Egypt on 21 - 09 - 2013

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Fahmy left Cairo on Saturday heading to New York to participate in the United Nations (UN) 68th general assembly, state-owned Al-Ahram reported.
Fahmy heads the Egyptian delegation to the assembly, and will give a speech during the general debate.
The ministry's spokesman, Badr Abdelatty, told state-owned news agency MENA that Fahmy's speech to the assembly will "explain the principles and goals of the 30 June Revolution, defend it strongly and will aim to gather political and economic support for [the revolution]." Abdelatty is a member of the delegation traveling to New York with Fahmy.
Abdelatty described the assembly as a "golden opportunity for the Egyptian people to be heard by the world"
The spokesman added that Fahmy insisted on including "youth figures" in the delegation to "affirm the role of Egyptian youth in 25 January and 30 June revolutions," and in framing Egypt's internal and international policy. The office of the foreign ministry spokesman told Daily News Egypt that the names of the youth figures included in the delegation are expected to be announced during this week.
Abdelatty also announced that Fahmy will meet with "more than 60 presidents, foreign ministers and delegations during his stay in New York"
Fahmy, who was appointed as foreign minister on 16 July 2013, served as ambassador to the US from 1999 to 2008.
