FM Nabil Fahmy meets unofficial group of ‘Egyptian ambassadors'
Published in Daily News Egypt on 04 - 09 - 2013

Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy met on Tuesday with members of Tayar Al-Esteklal to discuss how Egyptian embassies across the world can provide them with support and assistance.
Tayar Al-Esteklal is a group that aims to travel abroad to rectify Egypt's image in front of the international community after the military-sponsored ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi. It consists of representatives from 30 political parties, workers' unions and revolutionary forces.
The group met with Fahmy on Tuesday to discuss how the group will go about its mission to tour several countries, including Russia and China, to represent forces behind the 30 June uprising.
"Fahmy has taken up the responsibility of coordinating between the foreign ministry, political forces and civil society organisations to portray an accurate image of what is happening in Egypt to the world," a press statement published on Nabil Fahmy's official Facebook page said.
According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Badr Abdelatty, the ministry is working to coordinate between Egyptian embassies and Tayar Al-Esteklal to facilitate their travels.
"Egyptian embassies will have the responsibility to assist the group in their mission," Abdelatty said. "They plan on meeting with political parties and civil society groups in various countries to offer a true image of what is happening on the ground in Egypt."
He added that the group also aims to establish grounds for cooperation between Egyptian and foreign political forces. He described the self-funded group as "popular diplomacy."
It has yet to be announced when Tayar Al-Esteklal will begin its tour.
