Ghaly parts ways with Nassr
Published in Daily News Egypt on 06 - 07 - 2010

CAIRO: Egypt midfielder Hossam Ghaly had his contract with Nassr terminated by mutual consent on Monday and is expected to join either Ahly or Zamalek this summer.
Ghaly fell out with Saudi outfit Nassr after he inexplicably walked away ahead of a cup game last season. Other reports suggested that coach Walter Zenga was unwilling to keep him anyway.
The 28-year-old has already received offers from Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek and he is widely expected to accept one of them soon, according to his agent Nader Shawki.
"His contract with Nassr was rescinded by mutual consent," Shawki told FilGoal.com. "Ghaly is now free to join any team he wants.
"Ahly's officials opened talks with him a while back."
Last month, Zamalek denied being interested in Ghaly's services but Shawki asserted that they also offered to land him.
"He has bids from Ahly and Zamalek but he's yet to make up his mind," the well-known agent added.
"Ghaly does not mind playing for Zamalek although he kicked off his career at Ahly. Every player should think about what's best for him."
Ghaly came through the youth ranks of Ahly, where he spent three years of his professional career.
In 2003, Ghaly joined Holland's Feyenoord before moving to Tottenham Hotspur three years later. He arguably enjoyed the peak of his career at White Hart Lane.
However, his relationship with the Premiership side was ruined following his infamous tantrum, when he threw off his Tottenham shirt for being substituted in a match with Blackburn Rovers in 2007.
Spurs then loaned him to Derby County but his spell at the English minnows was by far dull. He moved to Nassr in 2009.
"In my opinion, Ghaly should keep plying his trade abroad. He's targeted by some European clubs but he wants to get back to Egypt," Shawki concluded.
Ghaly was also a key member of Egypt's squad that clinched an unprecedented third consecutive Nations Cup title in Angola in January, missing just one game in the biennial tournament.
