Imbaba teacher charged with sexual abuse
Published in Daily News Egypt on 14 - 06 - 2009

CAIRO: A high school teacher in Imbaba, Cairo is facing charges of sexually abusing his female students and covertly recording having sexual intercourse with them.
According to a report by the North Giza Prosecution office forensics department, the video clippings found on the teacher's mobile phone and on a CD are authentic and have not been technically manipulated.
The report also confirmed the identity of the offending teacher.
The teacher has allegedly assaulted 18 female students. Video recordings of 11 of them during the act were on a CD and eight were on his cell phone.
The 35-year-old teacher has confessed to having sexual intercourse with his students during private lessons, saying, however that it was consensual, but that they were unaware of the video recording.
Investigations revealed that he had been committing these crimes for a year and a half, and that security forces arrested him when CDs of the video clips began circulating among the students.
The Giza Education district terminated his contract on Thursday.
The case was referred to the North Giza Court, where the teacher's lawyer asked for a continuance till next Saturday.
The public has been shocked by this case.
"Last year it was all about violence against the students in classrooms and this year it is sexual abuse. Obviously there is something wrong with the education system, said Maha Ahmed, 44, a housewife.
