PORT SAID: Masri confirmed on Saturday that interim boss Tarek Soliman will remain at the helm until the end of the season. The club s board decided to keep faith at Soliman. Tarek Al-Sawi will be his assistant, Masri chairman Ali Farag told FilGoal.com. The Port Said-based club recently sacked coach Hossam Hassan and his twin Ibrahim, who was the club s sporting director. The former Egyptian internationals were shown the door following their infamous tantrum during Masri s match at Algerian side JSM Bejaia in a regional competition. Hossam was ordered from the touchline for constantly protesting against the referee s decisions. Ibrahim s actions were far more intolerable. He spat at the referee, assaulted the fourth official and made improper gestures towards the home crowd. We couldn t keep personnel who represented Egyptian football in such an embarrassing way, Farag said. Masri players went on a brief strike as they called on the board to reappoint Hossam as the team s boss. They reversed their stance few days later. In their first match without Hossam, Masri claimed a 2-1 victory over second-division side Shams in the Egyptian Cup round of 32.
