Michel considers Zamalek offer
Published in Daily News Egypt on 25 - 05 - 2008

CAIRO: Henri Michel is considering an offer to become Zamalek s coach for another stint following the resignation of Ruud Krol, the French manager s agent said on Friday.
Zamalek have offered Michel a monthly salary of ?40,000, Samir Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com.
Michel has asked for some time to consider the offer and make a final decision.
He was invited to attend the cup final, but he refused to show up unless a final agreement is reached, he added.
Dutchman Krol has recently announced that he would step down as Zamalek coach following the Egyptian Cup final against ENPPI on Sunday.
He cited family reasons for his decision to leave the club, nine months after his appointment.
Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas said the club need to appoint a new coach as soon as possible as the Cairo giants prepare for the CAF Champions League group stage.
The White Castle, who finished third in the Egyptian League, will play their first game in Group A against arch-rivals Ahly in July.
Many Zamalek fans would be happy to see Michel return at the helm, despite his acrimonious exit in August 2007.
The 60-year-old abruptly left Zamalek while the team were holding their pre-season camp.
At that time, Michel blamed Zamalek s board handling of the team for his departure.
He took charge of the Moroccan national team afterwards but was sacked after the team suffered a first-round exit from the African Cup of Nations.
Under Michel, Zamalek had a relatively satisfying campaign in the second half of the 2006/2007 season.
They were close to ending their title drought when they faced Ahy in the Egyptian Cup final.
However, despite having the lead for three times, Zamalek suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat to the Red Devils after extra time
