CAIRO: Al-Jazeera producer, Howayda Taha, arrived back in Egypt last Saturday waiting to attend the appeal session on June 16 and legal permission to start shooting her new documentary on the 100th anniversary of Egyptian cinema. Ramadan Mohamed, Taha's husband, told The Daily Star Egypt that the Egyptian police forces arrested Taha as she landed in Alexandria airport Saturday evening, and did not allow her to use her mobile phone However, he said Taha was soon released from the airport with no legal procedures taken against her. Taha, who is staying in Cairo for the next three weeks, told The Daily Star Egypt that she decided to come back to the city to attend the appeal session on June 16. "I highly trust the Egyptian Justice and I am sure the court will issue a fair decision in my case, said Taha. She added that her next documentary will cover the 100th anniversary of Egyptian cinema, but said she will start working on it as soon as she receives legal permission to shoot it. Taha was charged after working on a documentary about alleged police torture in Egypt. She was detained at Cairo International Airport as she waited to board a plane for Doha on Jan. 8. The controversial film "Wara El Shams or "Beyond the Sun was aired on Al-Jazeera Documentary channel in mid-April.
