Housewife finds new way of bringing family together - robbery CAIRO: The Cairo Bureau of Investigations recently arrested a family gang. A 61-year-old housewife from Hadaeq El-Qubba apparently found a way to supplement the family income. Nagwa Goma Mohamed roped in both her daughters, her son-in-law and her sister to form a gang to rob jewelers. The women - Mohamed's daughters Huda, 25, and Iman, 21, and her sister Zeinab, 45 - would go together to the jeweler and one of them would pretend to be a bride choosing her 'shabka,' traditionally the groom's present to the bride. While the others distracted the jeweler, one of the women would steal an item of jewelry. Apparently, the women became experts at taking advantage of the slightest carelessness on the part of the jewelers. By the time the police managed to cut their careers short, the women had committed over nine crimes, raking in a surprising 3 kg of gold. The stash comprised 14 gold bracelets, 34 rings and 12 pairs of ear-rings. The police were tipped off by complaints from jewelers in the area who reported large amounts of gold missing. The robbers, however, were not as smart as they thought they were. Mohamed's son-in-law, Saber Heshmat, was arrested driving a car that it later turned out he had bought from the proceeds of the stolen goods.
