CAIRO: The widespread spirituality of Ramadan can be felt everywhere in Egypt - except on the crime pages, with the usual assortment of crimes being reported.
Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper reported that in Giza a farmer murdered a 70-year-old man in the street, stabbing him 10 times and cutting his throat. The murdered man was the father of the farmer's sister-in-law, and the farmer was taking revenge for his brother. The wife and her brother had killed the farmer s brother earlier.
Al-Mesaa newspaper reported what has been termed an honor crime. A 41-year-old butcher killed his 46-year-old neighbor because of a sin he committed with his 19-year-old nephew.
In an argument over a house, a man stabbed his brother. The 33-year-old man was stabbed in the neck and other parts of his body. The victim claimed that he didn't know who did it, but police investigations revealed that the culprit was his brother.
A 20-year-old man kidnapped and raped his 14-year-old fiancé. Before the kidnapping, a fight had taken place between the man and the father of the girl over future groom's bad manners. He then kidnapped the girl and raped her in Al-Mahalla and Kafr Al-Sheikh.
A journalist s son was found dead floating in Al-Mansuriyya canal. According to Ahmad El-Sayed Anwar, journalist with Al-Jazeera's Cairo office, his son suddenly disappeared from home. Another child was found dead in Abo El-Nomoros canal. The father reported that his son had been playing and bathing in the canal.

A six-car accident in 15th of May City killed two and severely injured two others.
A large explosion took place in a flat in 6th of October City. A man and his wife were killed immediately and a 13-year-old child suffered extensive burns. Ten containers of acetone and sulphuric acid were the explosive materials. The owner of the flat and his wife were making tea on a small flame beside the containers.
Another joyful occasion went bad when a wedding party turned into a funeral. The party was being held in an old house in Beni Sueif, which collapsed due to the huge number of people gathered in the building.
In another incident, Al-Wafd newspaper recounted how a crocodile escaped from the Pharaonic Village into the main stream of the Nile. The 160-centimeter long crocodile disappeared for many hours and had reportedly escaped. Twenty-four hours later the crocodile was caught and the Nile is safe once again.
In the most bizarre crime of the week, in a mystical session a man stabbed a swindling sorcerer. The man claimed that devils had occupied his soul and that he was so excited that he lost control on himself and stabbed the sorcerer.
