The Hedgehog
Director: Mona Achache. Starring: Josiane Balasko, Garance Le Guillemic, Togo Igawa and Anne Brochet.
Paloma is the daughter of a snobbish mother and a distracted father, both of whom largely ignore her. She has decided that rather than succumb to the mediocrity of the life around her, she will commit suicide on a given date unless things take a turn for the better. She perceives an ally in the stout, blowsy concierge named Renee Michel. She has a lavishly stocked library in her back room and, when her employers are not looking, she enjoys nothing better than to curl up with a volume or two of Tolstoy.

The two buddies want to open their own parking lot business near a gigantic mall, and they just might get lucky, since they re supported by the local mafia boss.

The limits of control
