Priscilla Presley on serving humanities
Published in Daily News Egypt on 26 - 11 - 2008

Priscilla Presley is all about bringing "humanities together. If she had not been an actress, she would have been involved in human rights in some way. She would have extended her services to "children care, animal rights, older people.
Presley was given an enthusiastic introduction. "Not just a talented actress, said the moderator at a Cairo conference this week, Ms Presley is "also an important businesswoman with her signature perfume line, and also has a heart of gold.
"I have a lot to do, said the star, who was once married to the King of Pop Elvis Presley and later garnered fame for her role in the soap opera "Dallas, where she played Jenna Wade, and also for her work in the movie "Naked Gun and its sequels.
"I was her for a long time, said Presley about the "Dallas, character she played for five years, "and there was a lot of me in her.
"I haven't had the opportunity to play roles like Susan Sarandon does, said Presley.
A person was curious about what had attracted Elvis to her, and their love affair. Priscilla, who had listened to him speaking of his late mother said, "He poured out his heart to me. I listened to him and had a lot of compassion for his loss.
Presley said that although she had moved to Graceland, US, from Germany, it was all done very conservatively, "through parents. Elvis spoke to her father and convinced him to let her go, and when she arrived he made sure she went to "an all-girls Catholic school.
Asked by the moderator about why there were so many misconceptions about her, Presley said, "I'm very private. People know only a part of me, and so there is a lot of curiosity.
The actress revealed that a movie will soon be made on her life. The story will first be produced as a Broadway play. Unlike other Presley stories, this one will be from her side, about "traveling all over the world with my father, being thrown into a world of rock and roll, and then Hollywood.
Beauty tips were also desired from the actress, who offered no further than that in Hollywood "there are many tricks of the trade.
Asked what kind of Arab-American role there could be in the margin of her activities, which include taking care of terminally ill people that are over 18 years of age, Presley revealed she was open to suggestions.
"Obviously I see a lot, I feel a lot. I'm very sensitive to the humanities, she said.
Again the introducer revealed her deep admiration for Presley, "I would say you are a fighter; someone who wants to dance, love, live.
Presley said she finally understood what performers meant when they spoke of stage fright when she started dancing on "Dancing with the Stars. "But you were really confident, said the moderator.
Presley expressed she was enjoying her experience here, "I'm a people person. I love getting into society. For some reason, I feel everything and I'm touched by everyone here.
