Comedian Naguib El-Rihani (1890-1949) dances with American entertainer Josephine Baker (1906-1975) in the streets of Cairo in 1945. Often called "Charlie Chaplin of the East", El-Rihani brought his character "Kesh Kesh Beik" to life on Egyptian screens. Like Chaplin, the comic actor was popular for tackling social class issues, and poking fun at the aristocracy. This photograph was taken by Mohammed Youssef and is part of the Gihane Ahmed collection. The Arab Image Foundation is a non-profit organization established in Lebanon in 1997.
