SPOTTED! : Egyptian designers grace Abu Dhabi red carpet
Published in Daily News Egypt on 16 - 10 - 2009

Hend Sabry, the darling of Arab cinema, is currently in Abu Dhabi showing the world that talent in Egypt extends to more than just cinema.
From the opening night gala screening to her morning duties (Sabry is a jury member at the Middle East International Film Festival in Abu Dhabi) she has been spotted decked out head-to-toe in Egyptian fashion brands.
On the red carpet, it was a beautiful white gown with gold orbs by up-and-coming designer Dina Ayesh whose brand Dina Ayesh Night focuses solely on exquisite eveningwear. So captivating was the gown that during a fashion panel the following afternoon with American design prodigy Jason Wu, American Vogue Contributing Editor Kathryn Neale and celebrity stylist Brendan Cannon asked Sabry: "Who were you wearing last night?
"We have a lot of talented young designers in Egypt, said Sabry, "And as celebrities we have the exposure to promote them and I truly believe in their talent.
She was also quick to point out that the stars of yesteryear such as Souad Hosny and Faten Hamama were fashion trendsetters in the Middle East. Today, with such designers and celebrities collaborating, it's simply a matter of time before Egypt is once again on the fashion map.
It was an Egyptian woman Gaby Aghion after all who established the house of Chloe.
By day, Sabry was repeatedly spotted in those ethnic inspired kaftan tops, and other original ensembles so particular of Amina Khalil, whose brand Amina K. has been a bestseller item on the boutique website www.style-treasure.com as well as in local stores Mounaya and Loolies of Zamalek.
To compliment her evening dress, Sabry carried a clutch by designer Nadia Zarkani whose original brand Nuniz is a subtle marker of who's in the fashion know in Cairo. Sabry carried a gold "sadaf clutch and its mother of pearl front clasp beautifully complimented her dress.
