CAIRO: The change of seasons is always the perfect excuse to buy new handbags, and this season, men are expected to join this shopping craze.
While men should be looking for the non-glittering, practical man-bag, a sparkle is recommended in women s purses.
Following latest trends, the Swarovski clutch handbag by Miu Miu, a fancy choice for the most elegant occasions, stands out.
Swarovski has been the pioneering crystal manufacturer in the fashion industry for over a century. In 1892, Daniel Swarovski cut crystal on an industrial scale with greater speed and precision than the then-common manual process. With that began the most demanded crystal production center in the history of the field.
In the late 19th century, crystals started to be considered as an enhancement to formal evening wear. Crystal pieces were actually sewn into jackets and gowns. Swarovski took advantage of this fashion trend and, in 1913, he created his own crystals exclusively for the fashion industry.
Since then, the Swarovski crystals have evolved with the trends, and have contributed to almost all haute couture designs for generations. Maybe they meant crystals are a girl's best friend? They are definitely more economical than diamonds.
Miu Miu on the other hand is not a classic brand. It was created in 1993 by Miuccia Prada as a younger line of Prada. The aim is to create clothes and accessories that are sophisticated as well as provocatively innovative and urban.
This fabulous handbag is a perfect example of this mix; just add some Swarovski crystals and it is the perfect evening bag that matches absolutely everything from a ballroom dress to hip jeans with a simple top.
As for the men, yes, they get a handbag too. Remember that episode of Friends when Joey (Matt LeBlanc) was walking around with a "man-bag ? Now you can too, as they are now seen in many places in 2006.
While choosing your bag keep two points in mind. First of all, it should look nothing like a lady's handbag. Obviously you should avoid bright colors, sequins and loud designs.
Secondly, you should think about its size. Remember, "It's not a purse. It's a man-bag. So, little fragile items won t work. Go for a big enough size for it to be useful, but smaller than a brief case; that is simply too bulky and a fashion statement of 20 years ago.
The most attractive one on the Egyptian market available is a black tote bag by Beymen made out of ostrich leather. It is perfectly masculine and convenient for those mini laptops, some papers, cell phone and a few other things you feel like taking around with you.
Both items are available at Beymen.
