PARIS: A French court has said that charges have been filed against four men detained earlier this month for suspected ties to a network of “jihadists” in Mali. The men, between the ages of 22 and 37, are currently under investigation over their “criminal association” with “terrorist enterprises” in Mali, a judicial source confirmed to Bikyanews.com on Saturday. Two of the four have been ordered into detention pending trial. The others have been let go, but are required to report regularly to authorities. The official wasn't authorized to speak publicly and asked not to be identified. France is fighting a military campaign in Mali aimed at routing radicals trying to impose an Islamic state. French authorities also are hunting for potential jihadists at home. The three French citizens and a Malian, arrested Tuesday, were in contact with a Frenchman under investigation after being caught in August at the Niger-Mali border. BN
