RAMALLAH: On Monday Israeli tanks entered the Gaza Strip near Khan Younis, witnesses told Ma'an News Agency. The military incursion was another apparent Israeli breach of last month's Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that put an end to the 8-day military assault against Gaza. Israeli already breached the ceasefire on several instances. The first violation took place only days after the ceasefire went into effect: Israeli soldiers opened fire on civilians near the border and killed one young Palestinian man who had placed a Hamas flag on the security fence. On Wednesday November 28th Israeli forces opened fire on seven civilians near the Al-Maghazi and Al-Bureej refugee camps in Gaza. On the same day, a 27-year-old Palestinian man was transferred to a hospital after Israeli soldiers shot him several times while he was conducting manual labor in the northern part of the strip. Another violation occurred when military bulldozers entered Gaza near Khan Younis on November 29th. No shots were fired during this particular incursion. Hamas, on the other hand, has not fired any rockets into Israel since the day of the ceasefire. During the 8-day military offensive, over 170 Palestinians were killed, various news outlets report. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 103 fatalities were civilians, and injuries almost reached 1,400. Around 450 homes were severely damaged or completely destroyed, and roughly 3,000 people are still displaced.
