LAGOS: Specialist developer of intelligent power management systems and modular data centers for the telecom sector Flexenclosure announced on Tuesday that it was opening a new office in Lagos. The office aims at developing the “rapidly growing" regional market, which the Swedish company said it “has made great inroads" in recent times, citing its award-winning power management solution eSite and the energy efficient modular data center eCentre. The move is seen as a positive boost to the telecom sector in West Africa, which has been looking for new means to bolster the region's infrastructure. “West and Central Africa are regions with both high telecom growth and at the same time severe challenges in relation to the availability of electricity from the grid", said David King, CEO, Flexenclosure, in a statement. “Consequently, we have identified a great need in this region for both of our main solutions: eCentre and eSite," he added. The eCentre is a complete, “pre-fabricated, modular solution to house and power data and telecom equipment." According to Flexenclosure, it is optimized “for energy efficiency and low total cost of ownership, eCentre is specifically designed to be fast to deploy and fully future proof eSite is a power solution for off-grid and unreliable grid base station sites that cuts diesel-related costs by up to 90 percent. “Powered by renewable energy sources or the grid and a backup genset, eSite can deliver a 90 percent reduction in diesel fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, and energy related OPEX compared to traditional diesel based systems," the company said.
