LOS ANGELES: Canada's west coast city of Vancouver has been named the city with the “best reputation” worldwide, beating out Vienna and Sydney, according to the rankings published this past week. Reputation Institute, a reputation consulting firm in over 30 countries, conducted the yearly study that ranks the world's 100 most reputable cities by polling over 18,000 people from the Group of Eight countries. Scores are decided by three dimensions that influence the perceptions of a destination: advanced economy, appealing environment and effective administration. The three areas are further defined by 13 attributes, including the cities' perceived beauty, safety, cultural offerings, infrastructure, business environment and schools. Vancouver and Sydney are the only cities to finish in the top 10 in all three dimensions, with Vancouver scoring highest in administration and recommended by poll participants as the best place to live and work. The firm adds that as the 2010 Winter Olympics host, Vancouver focuses many resources on creating a welcoming environment and promoting its multicultural heritage.
