CAIRO: Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi called for religious groups to accept the “other” during a meeting with Islamic, Christian and Jewish organizations in New York on Monday. The meeting was held under in coordination with the Egyptian mission to the UN “within the framework of boosting dialogue, tolerance and understanding among faiths,” Egypt's State Information Services (SIS) reported. Morsi said during the meeting there was a necessity of accepting “the other” and coping with differences between religions. He pointed out that “Islam is a religion of tolerance.” Morsi also met at his residence in New York with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who is set to participate in the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, said Presidential Spokesman Yasser Ali. The two reportedly talked about the democratic transition in Egypt and Brazil's experiment in moving into the fold of economically advanced countries along with means of boosting cooperation between the two sides, Ali added.
