Legoland Malaysia hopes to bring the jobs
Published in Bikya Masr on 02 - 09 - 2012

KUALA LUMPUR: The addition of Legoland Malaysia to the country is being seen as a positive step on two fronts: entertainment and job creation.
The Malaysia government is hopeful that the new theme park will garner the masses, from both the Peninsula and neighboring Singapore.
“We hope this will be a giant boost that will be a test for other international companies who see Malaysia as a prime destination for theme parks and entertainment centers,” said an economic advisor to the Prime Minister's office.
The advisor told Bikyamasr.com that “with Singapore residents able to hop over, this could be a huge region for development.”
The hope is that builders will have the opportunity to show their skills in the region and help make Malaysia a prime destination for this sort of investment.
Siegfried Boerst, General Manager of Legoland Malaysia told reporters, “We are trying to hire more model builders here because we are very happy with the results. They learn very quickly and they have built fabulous (Lego) models so we want to use the existing model shop to provide models for our other existing Legoland parks and in the new Legoland parks we hope to build in the near future.
“We are looking at two sites in Asia right now. No fixed date has been set yet, but we want to open a new Legoland park every three to four years,” he added.
With worries that the economic growth in Malaysia seems to be in a stalled position, Legoland and other larger corporations making investment pushes into the country are being seen as a chance to revitalize the economic climate in the country.
On top of the economic value, Malaysians have told Bikyamasr.com they are ready to enjoy a day out at the theme park.
“We are already beginning to plan a family trip and see what this is all about,” said Najib Aziz, a father of two, who added that his children are already clamoring for the chance to go to Legoland Malaysia.
