CAIRO: The goal for Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi is a balanced foreign policy, his spokesman Yasser Ali told reporters on Sunday. Ali said at the press conference that Morsi aimed to ensure Egyptian interests and national security in his foreign dealings. It came only two days before the president is to travel to China for top level discussions before heading for a brief stopover in Iran, the first by an Egyptian leader in over three decades. “Morsi's orientation to Africa, Gulf countries, China, then Iran is a step in the way to such balanced foreign relations,” Ali said. The spokesman also said that Egyptian security “can be achieved by reinforcing relations with African states, Islamic states and the economic and political powers in the world.” Morsi will also head to Brazil and the United States next month in his first official visits to the Western Hemisphere.
