Egypt to announce names of Sinai attackers who killed soldiers
Published in Bikya Masr on 21 - 08 - 2012

CAIRO: Egypt said on Monday that it would release the names of the militants who attacked a border post near the Gaza and Israel border earlier this month, which killed 16 soldiers and wounded 7 others.
Egyptian Defense Minister General Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi confirmed said the names would be released in the coming days.
The remarks by the minister came after a meeting he had with tribal leaders and families including prominent political figures in northern Sinai, noting that he “remained involved in supervising the wide security campaign to wipe out terrorists and criminal activity in the area.”
Al-Sisi said after the meeting that he “would not allow the Sinai area to be a land for armed men, stressing importance on the need to get rid of all weapons which threaten security there,” the KUNA news agency reported.
It comes as Egypt continues a military campaign in northern Sinai aimed at hitting militants in the area after the violent attack killed the soldiers.
Egypt has deployed more military personnel to the area, and has used air strikes to attack targets in Sinai in the now almost three week long operation.
