Malaysia's Mahathir says Israel “rules world by proxy”

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed said that Israel “rules the world by proxy” in a statement.
The firebrand former Malaysia leader argued that the world must be weary of Israel's influence on the global political scene.
“I wonder whether people notice it or not, but Presidential candidates of the United States of America, the sole superpower, all have to seek approval from Israel,” he said in a blog post on chedet.cc on Monday.
“Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate for President, has just made the pilgrimage. And he has made a public pledge that he will be even tougher against the Palestinians and Iran than Obama (US President Barack Obama),” he continued.
The former PM argued that he believes Obama will soon make the same pilgrimage and make more promises to fight for Israel.
“This situation is odd and Malaysians would not think this approach is proper during the national general election.
“What if Malaysian candidates for elections have to visit a neighboring country to pledge our friendship or support for it?
“Our elections are about gaining the support of Malaysians for the party that will form the government. What other countries think of our government's policies is irrelevant,” he said.
He continued to lash out against the US, arguing that their loyalty for Israel is a major determining factor for their own political campaigns and elections.
“It is not about what is good for the Unites States which counts.
“One can imagine the policies that will be adopted by whichever government or president wins, and it is clear the United States cannot ignore Israel's views when reacting to anything of concern to Israel.
“Looks like the tail is wagging the dog,” he said.
