SINGAPORE: Companies in Singapore are excited about the government's launch of the Go Green Seed Fund to help push more environmentally friendly projects and endeavors in the island country. Companies will now be able to pitch to the South East Community Development Council (CDC) and SMRT Corporation for funding, which jointly launched the new Go Green Seed Fund on Friday. SMRT and South East CDC donated S$15,000 each to the fund. The companies, and the government, hope the effort will encourage people in the district to address environmental concerns and raise eco awareness. Launched in conjunction with ITE's Eco-Conference, the grant will provide up to S$5,000 per project. But the fund is not for individuals. It hopes to seek out green collaborations between at least two community partners. These include schools, grassroots organizations and voluntary welfare organizations, or other interested parties. Registration is open now until August 17. Submitted applications will be subjected to evaluation by a panel, comprising members from SMRT, South East CDC and the National Environment Agency.
