CAIRO: Egypt's new President Mohamed Morsi will make his first trip outside Egypt as the country's democratically elected leader to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, the official news agency MENA reported. The move has left some activists frustrated that the Muslim Brotherhood leader is heading to the ultra-conservative Gulf country. They said online that it was to reassure the Saudi government that the countries' relationship would remain strong. It also comes as many in Egypt believe that Saudi Arabia supported the Morsi campaign during the election season, and they view it as a dangerous step toward the Islamification of the country. Egypt's official news agency MENA said Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah invited Morsi “to strengthen relations.” The announcement came after Morsi met with Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Egypt on Saturday.
