KUALA LUMPUR: China and Singapore have together pledged to continue to boost relations between the two, including the construction of the Suzhou Industrial Park and the Tianjin Eco-city, government officials said on Thursday. The projects are part of the two countries' high-level cooperation, China's Vice-Premier Li Keqiang told reporters during a meeting with Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who was on an official visit to China this week. Li said he believes the two countries can cooperate to expand domestic demand and increase development of the nation's central and western regions. Teo said Singapore hopes the two countries can learn from each other's development experiences and lift the ties to a new level. Teo's visit to Beijing will include meetings with top Chinese officials, such as Vice-Premier Li Kegiang, and will aim at increasing dialogue between the two, especially on economic issues. Teo will also visit Suzhou on July 6 to co-chair the 9th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) meeting with Vice Premier Wang, an annual high-level platform to review existing collaborations and explore new areas of cooperation, China's Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday. They will co-chair the 14th Suzhou Industrial Park Joint Steering Council and the 5th Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (TEC) JSC meetings. Teo will also make site visits to the Suzhou Industrial Park and the Tianjin Eco-City and meet senior provincial officials.
