DUBAI: United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan praised the “friendly cooperative relations” with Egypt, but did warn against Egypt “intervention” to export revolution to other countries, in a statement published by UAE's official WAM news agency. Nahyan said that his country was “keen on documenting the brotherly and historical relations during the coming period, [through] political and economic investment.” The foreign minister said that relations with Egypt's new President Mohamed Morsi were on “solid ground” and that there was a “genuine desire to develop for the benefit of the two countries and two peoples.” In the comments, Nahyan praised Morsi's election victory and said he was optimistic over the future of the two countries' relationship. While Nahyan did praise Morsi's speech at Cairo University on Saturday following his official oath and taking over of the presidency, the foreign ministry warned Egypt against pushing revolution and unrest across the region. “Egypt's role, strong and balanced and effective, reflected positively on the Arab world to become influential on the world stage,” he said, adding that he didn't want to see Morsi's presidency “prevent the affairs of the Arab world through interventions.”
