KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia now has iTunes. The American computer and software giant announced on Wednesday that it was officially launching in 12 new countries, including Malaysia. The move already has the country in a frenzy, with IT experts and Internet users alike hopeful that it could mean more entertainment at their fingertips. “It is very exciting and I can't wait to log on and get my membership,” said Yussif Sengut, a Malaysian graphic designer. “I have been waiting a long time to use iTunes to get television shows and movies, but haven't because my only bank account was here in Malaysia,” he told Bikyamasr.com. The launch will see Malaysians now able to access over one million songs, movies and podcasts on the Internet store. The Malaysia-specific store will feature both local and international artists from all major labels and thousands more independent labels, including Jay Chou, Girls Generation and Andy Lau, international artists including Adele, The Beatles and Jason Mraz, and world-renowned classical musicians including Lang Lang, Yo Yo Ma and Yuja Wang. “Apple is bringing the iTunes Store to music fans in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam,” the company said in its Asia boost on Wednesday. The launch of the iTunes store now complements the App Store, which offers more than 650,000 apps to consumers in 155 countries.
