CAIRO: Some 250,000 Egyptian expatriates have voted in the presidential election run-off, the foreign ministry said in a statement. Spokesman Amr Roshdy said the Egyptian embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, had the highest the number of votes, with more than 63,000; followed by Kuwait with 55,000; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 48,000; Doha, 15,100; Dubai, 13,500; Abu Dhabi, 13,300; and Muscat, 4,450, the Middle East News Agency reported Saturday. Outside of Arab world, Roshdy said, the Egyptian Consulate in New York had the highest number of votes, with about 4,000; followed by Montreal and Milan, Italy, with almost 3,300 votes each. The spokesman added that voting in embassies and consulates in more than 161 countries globally was to end at 8 PM on Saturday evening. Already, the votes are being counted, but an incident highlighted by Egypt's 6th of April Youth Movement in France has shown there may be violations. At least one Egyptian man living in Paris was barred from voting by embassy officials after he was told he could not wear a t-shirt promoting the Egyptian uprising of January 2011 inside the embassy to cast his ballot. More details on the incident are emerging and Bikyamasr.com will investigate the incident further.
