NEW DELHI: Pakistani actress Veena Malik has publicly stated here support for the LGBT community in India and Pakistan, saying it is an important cultural step for the societies. The Bollywood star, who has made headlines in recent weeks for photos of her nearly nude, including a recent cover of FHM India, which has sparked criticism, said in statement that LGBT rights are vital for the future. “I'm all for homosexuality, and I don't feel awkward supporting the LGBT community,” she said in a statement published by Times of India. “I personally feel every person has the right to live their life on their own terms and nobody should interfere in their personal life. I'm glad people have opened up and are game to discuss sexual orientation now. Soon, they will be in a mindset to accept homosexuality as well,” Malik added. The issue of gay rights in India has recently seen positive movement after the country's High Court ruled that same-sex relations would not be punishable under the country's legal code.
