NEW DELHI: A 12-year old school dropout will now teach Yoga at one of India's premier educational institutions St Peter's College located in Agra, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh which hosts one of the world's seven wonders the ‘Taj Mahal'.
Ram Das ‘Brahmachari', Ram Das ‘Brahmachari will be the institutions new yoga teacher and is said to be a master of at least 300 asanas (yoga postures). As part of the hiring drill, Ram Das performed yoga before a massive audience at the College's campus where he showed 38 asanas.
Ram Das, who dropped out of school in Class II, credits his father for his success in the famed meditation and Yoga techniques.
My father, Mukesh Sharma inspired me. He began teaching me yoga when I was just six,” Ram Das, who will join the college in July, later this year, told reporters.
According to Fr John Ferreira, who is the St Peter's College principal and an enthusiast of yoga, students of his college will be at ease learning from Ram Das as he is of their age group.
Ram Das left school because his teachers disillusioned him and now instead depends on his sister, who teaches him lessons at home. He said his teachers chewing tobacco in the classroom put him off.
According to him, the key to learning yoga is good discipline in normal life. He is convinced that yoga cures all physical and mental diseases.
He cites his father's example, who he said overcame renal failure to lead a normal life through yoga.
