CAIRO: The Chairman of the Middle East Committee of the European Parliament, Mario David, will begin a three-day visit to Egypt, on Wednesday May 2nd, heading a delegation of members of the EU parliament from the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Denmark. Ambassador Ashraf Hamdi, Deputy Assistant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for EU affairs, said that the delegation is scheduled to meet, during the visit with each of the Speakers of the People's Assembly and Shura Council and the Grand sheikh of Al Azhar and the Temporary Pope of Alexandria and a number of members of Egypt's Supreme Council of Armed Forces, which has been the custodial government since the fall of Mubarak. On the other hand, a delegation from the Egyptian–German Parliamentary Assembly will arrive in Cairo headed by Klaus Bernddens, on a week-long visit to Egypt, where he will meet with a number of presidential candidates, led by Amr Moussa and Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh and Salim Al-Awa. The delegations, will discuss, during their visit to Cairo, the ongoing political developments in Egypt, and the status of women and civil society as well as regional and international developments.
