NAIROBI: The Postal and Courier services (PCK) in Kenya is aligning itself to provide better courier service to its customers as a result of a declined by 4 per cent in the last quarter, according to statistics from the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK). Dr. Bitange Ndemo, PS in the Ministry of Information and Communication said that the lack of a door to door delivery model was inhibiting growth of the postal and courier sector since currently the physical address system is limited to businesses that are based and operate on a home delivery business model. The address system can have a significant impact on the growth of this communication sub-sector,” said Ndemo. The PS added that he had established a unit to come up with an addressing system based on digital maps and geo-positioning but no results have been received to date and he admitted responsibility for that. “I admit failure and take full responsibility for the outcome of the taskforce. The committee sat for two years running and has not given us anything,” said Ndemo. He later announced that he had disbanded the unit and will put into place another one. “We will constitute a new one immediately and it will be expected to give feedback to the industry in six months.”
