NAIROBI: The Open Government Partnership annual conference being held in Brazil will seek to bring together delegates from different countries where they will be sharing their Open Government Partnership (OGP) Action Plan. Bitange Ndemo, PS Ministry of Information and Communication will lead the Kenyan team. They will be tabling Kenya's OGP Action Plan that highlights how the government will increase information access to improve public services, increase public integrity and lead reforms in effective management of public resources. Kenya's OGP Action Plan proposes that by March 2013, citizens should be able to access government information through SMS, get crucial services through a single point, by April 2013, and access important government documents by the end of this year. “As a pioneer of open data in the continent, Kenya wants to maintain a leading position in implementing ICT that improves citizen service delivery, strengthens public sector governance and transparency. The Open Data portal further allows Kenya's budding entrepreneurs to participate in this process through using data to innovate and create applications and products for citizen use. In doing so there is greater job creation. This is a key to Kenya achieving Vision 2030.” said Bitange Ndemo.
